Proud Falcon Tabard

No more shall I wear my proud Falcon Tabard
No more shall I sing of the Saxon shield wall
No more shall I fight with the Huscarls around me
No more shall I mourn at King Godwinsson's fall.

For a full dozen years you've been like a family
Giving me laughter and easing my pain
But as I depart you my heart fills with sorrow,
For I fear that I might never see you again.

No more shall I wear my proud Falcon Tabard
No more shall I sing of the Saxon shield wall
No more shall I fight with the Huscarls around me
No more shall I mourn at King Godwinsson's fall.

To the Crown of this kingdom I owe my first fealty
Serving each Sovereign in council or war.
For my meager labors They've paid me great honors,
But now I can't earn them for I'll serve them no more.

No more shall I wear my proud Falcon Tabard
No more shall I sing of the Saxon shield wall
No more shall I fight with the Huscarls around me
No more shall I mourn at King Godwinsson's fall.

I bid now farewell to my shoulder companions
Well-tested warband, foremost in the fray
Nothing is sweeter than to join you in battle,
And nothing more bitter than to hear myself say.

No more shall I wear my proud Falcon Tabard
No more shall I sing of the Saxon shield wall
No more shall I fight with the Huscarls around me
No more shall I mourn at King Godwinsson's fall.

To friends well beloved I offer this promise
To think of you oft as this world I roam
To tell of your glory and sing of your honor
Until that great day when I come again home.

And then I shall wear my proud Falcon tabard
Again I shall sing of the Saxon Shield wall
And joyously join with the Huscarls in battle
But always I'll mourn King Godwinsson's fall.
