Tradesman Connection

Words: Jóhann Steinarsson
Music: The Rainbow Connection by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher
Dedicated to all the unsung heroes on the sidelines of the battle, and whose passions lean towards the more peaceful life.

Why are there so many songs about fyrdsmen,
And how they love fighting all day?
Fyrdsmen are vicious, so utterly ruthless,
It’s best to stay out of their way…

Some say it’s fun and some tell me to try it,
I know it’s just not for me.
Someday we’ll find it, the tradesman connection,
The carvers, the weavers, and me.

Who says that everyone must armor up one day,
And take their licks on the list field?
Somebody thought of that, and some folks believe it,
But I need not sword nor a shield,

I’m just a artist, a simple young artist,
'Tis all that I need, don't you see?
Someday we’ll find it, the tradesman connection,
The brewers, the bakers, and me.

All of us, plying our skills,
Just sharing our gifts can be magic…

Are you a metalsmith? A sculptor or singer?
You might hear us calling your name.
Will you sit with us, and show us your talents?
For sharing and learning’s our aim.

I’ve thought it over and just can’t deny it,
The artisan's life, that’s for me.
Someday we’ll find it, the tradesman connection,
The builders, the dreamers, and me.
