Viking Living

Words: Valdemar Ironfist
Music: Long Haired Country Boy by Charlie Daniels

People say I'm no good and crazy as a loon.
Fight tournaments in the mornin' get drunk in the afternoon.
Six long months I've been out, on the Saxons do I raid.
I've a dearth of Dane geld but I've got seven Saxon maids.

Chorus
And I shan't ask a good lord for naught.
I can't plunder on my own.
If you don't like my Viking livin'
Just raise enough Dane geld I might go home.

The people in the lands we raid say we shouldn't pick on the weak.
But if the Gods didn't want them shorn, they wouldn't have made them sheep.
The Christian priests tell of the meek inheriting all the earth.
But they'll have to wait in line until we're done with it first.

Chorus
And I shan't ask a good lord for naught.
I can't plunder on my own.
If you don't like my Viking livin'
Just raise enough Dane geld I might go home.

Now I prefer my dragon ship to any charger or steed.
But I've never drowned fallin' off a horse when I've had my fill of mead.
Come nightfall my Saxon maids are all in their nightshirts.
That's the only time you'll find this Viking going berserk.

Final Chorus
And I shan't ask a good lord for naught.
I can't plunder on my own.
If you don't like my Viking livin'
Just raise enough fyrdmen I will go home.
['til next year]

Chorus
And I shan't ask a good lord for naught.
I can't plunder on my own.
If you don't like my Viking livin'
Just raise enough Dane geld I might go home.
