The Bear and Uncle Stevie

Words: Duane of Derentwater
Tune: Preacher and the Bear
Source: Tales of Baron Stephen Ironhand

Ironhand went to Grey Niche;
It was on one Friday night.
He took along his armour
Thought that he might have to fight.
He'd made King John a promise
He might have to keep.
The Squire had a big mouth,
And Steve's in trouble deep.

(chorus)
"King John, I know I promised,
But I'm in a jam.
John, you need the help,
But you know how I am.
I know your troops didn't show
And that we're all there...."
"Hmmmm...well, if you can't help me,
Please don't help Brummbear!"

Steven hadn't gone alone
Several others were also there
Brom, Guillaume and Chepe,
Dev, Bellwood, and Bear.
Lothan to the other side
Was lured by Traitor Steve
Which caused the people standing round
To gnash their teeth and grieve.

(chorus)

The Middle won the fight
And drank the Victor's Cup.
Ironhand the next day
Found himself all tied up.
The heavy hand of Justice
Finally came down...
When Lothan returned home that night,
Just as damned near drowned.

(chorus)
"King John, I know I promised,
But I'm in a jam.
John, you need the help,
But you know how I am.
I know your troops didn't show
And that we're all there...."
"Hmmmm...well, if you can't help me,
Please just hold back that Bear!"
