Border Raid Morning

Words: Morgana
Tune: unknown
Source: Tales of Baron Stephen Ironhand

Come 'round by my side and I'll sing you a song,
I'll sing it so gently it'll do no one wrong,
On the Border Raid Morning the Middle was strong
And Ironhand, he fought for BearKiller

The Three Rivers fighters said this would not do,
They would not be aprt of a treacherous crew;
They'd stay staunch and loyal to the Kingdom they knew,
All but Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.

And Squire Lothan, who followed his Baron that day
Without hope of reward that BearKiller might pay,
Nor displaying much sense as he went on his way
To join Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.

King Moonwolf, he offered two bottles of brew;
A noble reward for his stout-hearted crew.
He'd give them with honor to the fighter who slew
Baron Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.

And Bellwood's Commandos gave one noble try.
To kill the foul traitor they'd willingly die,
But got lost in the woods and so they passed him by.
Lost Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.

And so the false Baron fought fiercely and well
Protecting a false king until they both fell
And he's no Master Sergant, the truth be to tell,
Baron Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.

But we in Three Rivers don't want someone new,
For he is our Seneschal, tried (if not true.)
And if he ever leaves us we know what he'll do--
He'll go back and he'll fight for BearKiller.

The Border Raid's come and the Border Raid's gone
And I can't do much more than just sing you this song.
But we'll sing it loudly and often and strong,
About Ironhand, who fought for BearKiller.
